The Political Economy of Hate
There is a demand for hatred, which is the willingness to hear hateful stories about other groups. The level of hatred increases with inter group economic differences or inequality but it's also linked to the funds received by rightwing groups. I see that playing out almost on a one-on-one basis in india at the moment and i think where we might be having, where this is linked to the riots and other issues. If people feel that they do not have access to good jobs, government jobs is important in the indian context as well. So i think actually in dealing with issues in the labor market are actually going to be quite important.
