The Inequality of Service

We are bound in honor to refuse to listen to those men who would make us desist from the effort to do away with inequality. There should be equal of opportunity to render service, but just so long as there is inequality of service, there should and must be inequality of reward. Let us try to level up, but let us beware of the evil of leveling down. If a given scheme is proposed, look at it on its merits, and in considering it, disregard formulas. It does not matter in the least who proposes it or why. If it seems good, try it. If it proves good, accept it. Otherwise reject it.
