Camille and Antoine - A Brief History of Antoine

Camille expected Antoine to send them packing, but instead he would ask her to give them a meal and some coins before they left. She was moved to ask him why he exhibited such charity after all, nobody who lived nearby showed any kindness to him. He referred to a great philosopher he admired, named Aristotle, saying, it is the characteristic of the magnanimous man to ask no favor, but to be ready to do kindness to others. "It is my prior path in life that led me to ruin," he said.
