The Tennis Podcast

CHAPTER

The Challenges of Covering Tennis on Social Media

With social media, the athletes themselves have taken command of their own messages. Roger Federer calling me up back in the day when he wanted to get the word out that he had had a mononucleosis. It's also because there's much less time than there used to be for 30, 35 minute press conferences. Now it's 10 minutes of that. The whole line about nostalgia ain't what it used to be doesn't satisfy anybody and it certainly doesn't do me any justice. There's some good and there's some bad, but I sure do miss those kind of meeting of the minds of those press conferences used to be.
