The thinking in Hollywood is that comedies are no longer for theaters. They are mostly for streaming, which means they disappear into the ether and they don't resonate and become classics. There's so many comedies now, like Confess, Fletch or that went straight to streaming because they didn't think it would do well. Like they're just not taking risks anymore. If there's no comedies in theaters, what are they going to talk about on the rewatchables in 20 years?
