Joe Abercrombie: A Novelist's Guide to Tolkien

There's a sort of nostalgic element and a kind of you know romantic romantic chivalric element to his appeal that's part of fantasies appeal to. Then especially once you get into the last 10 or 20 years where everyone's trying to be really grim and gritty and realistic. Have you read any Joe Abercrombie books? I would think of him as George RR Martin's George RR Martin right like if you think Martin's books are just sex and violence and cynical power politics. He does some interesting things with, he has a few books that are sort of basically genre mashups in which they're about one battle during a single fantasy battle.
