i think part of it is because we carry this post colonial baggage that english is a marker of class, and therefore one way of signalling how sophisticated you are. And i think there is also the question of, ou know, of lag with which we in india received a lot of what you might call literature. The kind of literature you read growing up in school as part of your non detaile exercises or whatever, was all from a particular era. It was frozen in time. You internalize that in your classroom ad then you move out, and you just continue to think that that is the market of good writing. I think my view, in my view, good
