Cortez ordered that every district of tanoch te klan should be demolished. The rubble was used to fill in the canals and waterways so aztec canoes could not manoeuvre. While the spanish adapted their tactics, the meshika did too. They learned to make evasive manoeuvres in their canoes and take cover from gunfire.
