The United States' Failure to Honor the History of Mesopotamia

The U.S. blundered into Iraq, changed it in all these ways and then to sort of stop thinking about it. Many of the American players did not appear to appreciate the world's historic cultural significance of the territory that they were operating within. And I think even the relative lack of commemoration at the highest political level itself is telling; there isn't really a sense of accountability.
