The Importance of Belief in Action
In order to act rationally, you need to act in accordance with your beliefs. And what's so interesting about Liz's account is that it goes against the grain in saying that hope could be a rational justification for action. So I think part of what it's pointing out is evidence and belief, that's not the whole story. You also need something about desire and hope,. And that also motivates us. It paints a picture of how it's possible to acts rationally even though you're acting against your belief.
