Are You Doing Too Much Training?
If you're doing exercise and your heart rate's less than a hundred, as an arbitrary number, its probably it's not really training. But then something like hiking can have some benefits in terms of muscular endurance - especially the down hills. And i'm a big fan of using deliberate power walking hill rips as part of rehab for injuries,. particularly lower lower limb ones. Where you are getting a lot of the benefits of running, but without dynamic loading that running incorporates.
