Is Twitter a Mastodon Alternative?
Twitter was only maybe ever a limited and shallow democratizing influence on a bunch of, you know, industries and people. But it did the thing that every sort of great social wave of the Internet has done: It found all these intelligent, funny, strange, interesting people across the country. In practice, it often was awfully awful and still is awful and silly and terrifying. The contradiction is important to the being of Twitter.
