The Challenge of Lowering the Production of Coal in Poland
Poland, a country that prided itself on energy independence built on its coal production, found itself in a place where its imports of coal exceeded its exports. And so Poland became dependent on Russia too. It was seen as something that was economically needed, but politically it was embarrassing. Part of the Polish legitimate criticism was that importing gas, natural gas from Russia, was about financing the Kremlin and financing the aggressive policy of Kremlin.
