Investing in Local Communities Is Not Socially Acceptable in Most Places
In public markets, the investors largely don't care about the local community. This leads to a cycle of competitive destruction,. Once you race to the bottom too low, you crash, and then someone takes your spot. It's been demonstrated again and again thatcorp statesmanship pays off in the long run with better products, more stability and ultimately more profit. But when there are a lot of people in the organization who benefit from most people in the organisation getting paid less, then that's what's going to happen. And the gig economy has made it worse.
