The Success of Sanctions on Iran
The US has imposed more sanctions over the past decades than the EU, Canada and the UN combined. Iran comes to mind immediately as a case where sanctions have worked well in the sense of meeting US objectives. The lesson here is that sanctions work better when they target a democracy but not one with dismal human rights record.
