The Importance of Having a Gender Clinic
There are other options. You have the kind of NHS healthcare pathway, which is the National Health Service or you look at the private route. It can be quite difficult to even get a referral to a gender clinic because it's relying on your local GP and whether they're going to try and dissuade you from it. And then there's a long period of time between referral, initial appointment, and then it can take up to two appointments to actually get given hormones. Normally appointments are sort of years apart or a year apart. So things are in a very bad way for a lot of people.
