The New York Times and the War on Terror

I think that there was the will to be part of some vaguely fascist, nationalistic movement long before 9-11 came along and gave them a reason. The whole thing just seemed weird and gratuitous at the time. Like it's about strangling some guy who doesn't fit into the gung ho little click. I don't get it. And then Jack Nicholson as the nationalist epitome of self sacrifice, I was a bit of a stretch too.
