The restore trial is a massive effort of the NHS, blood and transplant along with like a bunch of different universities and organizations in I think mostly in the UK. The idea here is to see which one lasts longer because they're hypothesizing that because these are made from stem cells and they're young red blood cells, they're kind of all at the same age,. That they'll last longer in the participant than a regular blood transfusionwhich captures red blood cells of all different ages. It could help individuals who have sickle cell anemia or people with other complex transfusion needs. There's a lot of potential good that can come from lab grown blood.
