Three Amigos, of course, is a 1986 comedy directed by Jonathan Landis. John Mulaney's been signed up to write it. Steve Martin has a place in this story, I think, as the model of the modern wasp resistor. The musical that he and Edie Brekell would write together represented an attempt to sum it up some of that authentic American musical energy.
