In a physiologically well patient, a normal breath is going to have a short inspiritory time compared to the expiritory time. With a b v m or mapleton circuit, we're talking about getting a respirit rate of around ten to 12 breaths per minute. In your standard sized adult, you're looking to achieve around four to 500 mills per breath. And a bit of peep is helpful with a mapleton s circuit. But if you are struggling with oxygenation, think otwhether or not you can add peep, how much pressure you're providing in that mean airway pressure.
