Is There a Border Between Russia and Ukraine?

The border between the Russian Federation and Ukraine was agreed upon by both parties in December of 1991. The unspoken assumption here is that if Russia had some kind of historical claim then it would be okay to invade. That is just not the way that history works, history and law are two different things. It's imperial powers who say things like always and never. They're asserting their right to control the forms of knowledge which get the rest of us to thinking there isn't really something there.
