Einstein did not believe in a personal god. He believed that the universe is so gorgeous that it's not random and ugly. Galileo said that science, what is? Science is about determining how the heavens go. Religion is determining how to go to heaven. But as long as we understand the relationship between these two, there's no problem. They can actually help each other.
This week on the penguin podcast, Nihal Arthanayake is joined by theoretical physicist, futurist, and popularizer of science, Michio Kaku. Together they discuss string theory, the unifying threads of different religious beliefs, human curiosity and the barriers to scientific thinking.
