The Importance of Optimism
"I have an instinctive catastrophizing streak and therefore have a tendency to look at the negative after all most good stories come out of bad things," he says. "But I did find that that passage toward the very, very end started to decay into a kind of improbable optimism, a sunniness that given the nature of our species sounds unlikely" He adds: "Why is it that whenever I write optimistic scenarios they come out sounding like satire?"
