Sarah Sol is a professor of organizational behavior at Stanford University. In many ways, protests is just like other voluntary activities like voting and volunteering. Most studies on this subject show that the best predictor is being asked to do so. It has to do with how our lives sometimes unintentionally get in the way of our voluntary activities.
