The Importance of Hard Living

He drinks so much booze that he comes down with acute pancreatitis and nearly dies. He gets a job in the cattle industry, actually shoveling manure this time. After the bad checks incident, he goes back to what he knows, tries to reenlist for the Navy. The Navy says, no, thank you. They look at his record. So now he's spending a lot of time with his friend Tom. Both of them trying to chase their depression away with jobs they hate.
