The clues that are available tend to point towards some other author, particularly florio. If florio is the author of a lover's complaint, then it impossible that shakespeare gave permission and authorization for thomas thorpe's printing of the sonnets. And lastly, this is sometimes pointed out, but not always explicitly, by scholars, that it's hard to imagine that sh Shakespeare could have authorized the publication of these sonnets when they are so often so private.
