The Importance of Truth in Science
I should restate that because I can entirely accept your correction of what I've said. It's not based in a view that truth does not exist. What I'm trying to get at is rather that the status of something as true is independent of coercion. So that is to say my bullying someone to believe something has no purchase on whether that view that I am advocating is true or not. Yes. The whole history of science is full of firmly held beliefs that turned out to be wrong. That's the way science works. And it gives you a picture of the universe which is not as anything like as rich as nature itself.
