In the original film, rhine reynolds and theeo are attached. They go out for supplies with young adam in their dad's clothes. But they're stopped by a group of bullies who want to beat them up. And so old Adam says: "It'll help you become a strong man in the future" In another scene, kids heads turn into gushers than peace ferts oti go. That wasn't in the original scrip.
