The Rise of Santo Daime in Latin America
A lot of people also that have failed Western medicine and look for this practice as some kind of alternative healing, or a set of group of people that are disentianted with institutionalized mainstream religions. I think it's particularly interesting if you think that the case of Santo Daime, Spain conquered many countries in Latin America and then we are sort of exporters of this new form of religiosity back to them. We wrote recently a paper that we published signed by a series of important researchers protesting what's going on in Spain. And this work is supported by Chacrinas Council for the protection of sacred plants - an ayahuasca community committee working around these issues.
