Caine's Thoughts on the Future of Work and Leisure
Caine's thought that the world had, for thousands of years, lived in conditions that were defined by scarcity. He predicted a century hence, so that's a decade from now, that we would be woking 15 hour weeks. And he saw that as a kind of golden age in which people would be creating works of art and not being engaged in strife and struggle. In some ways, he was very preciant. If you read what he writes, it has very much the character ofmuch of what is said in sullikan valley these days.
