The Politics of Trade-Offs
In the 1970s, many Americans pushed for regulations to make it very hard to build and to operate nuclear reactors in this country. The trade-off was that we were going to start using more fossil fuel - a significant trade-off. And now bring us to the 2000s, where we're using so much fossil fuel every year because of electronic stuff. We've got a climate change problem that we wouldn't have had if we not made it so difficult to build and operate nuclear reactors.
