The Ultimate Cancellation
There's a certain opacity at play there that I don't think many of us want to really engage with because it's as Mary Rudy would put it, the kind of bad feelings and so on that we love to avoid. And one might think in a sort of self-ironic state of reflection that the sort of world cancellation might have invited us to sort of think about why we desire these prohibitions on language. But ultimately, what does it mean? The ultimate cancellation is in fact death itself. You can say there's a death drive at work here.
