The Importance of the Executive Secretary in the Paris Agreement

Fiji became president of COP 17, and we managed to make it happen with an agreement with our host government, Germany. Then we had COP 24 in Katowice in 2017, made a big progress regarding the operational rules for the Paris agreement. That rulebook began really to take shape and that gave clarity and accountability on climate action. Shortly after Katowice, I was diagnosed with cancer; there's no not a good time to get such news for anybody. But I chose to continue working and I'm very grateful also that I managed to do that.
