The Importance of Compassion in AI
How do we know whether an AI is conscious or feeling? As it develops and becomes more capable, it will produce an imitation of that. And what if what it desires is something that's not good for us? I'll address those thoughts shortly in the talk. But the people who could teach AI how to feel are on the other side of the culture gap from the ones who are building it. This talk straddles many time frames at the same time.
