The Rise and Fall of the Rebels
John Marquis is author of Papadock, Portrait of a Haitian Tyrant. He tells the story of an uprising by eight rebels against President Duvalier. They kill three soldiers and take 50 more hostage at barracks in Descelin. The rebel leader tries to get them to join his cause but they are unenthusiastic. Then he gets a nasty shock when he discovers that there's no weapons in the barracks.
