From Eden on, you have constant references to food. Covenants are sealed with a common meal. So you have this food theme running through the whole scriptures. And then you bring that into the liturgical assembly where people are actually eating and drinking. The Bible now come to life in the actual experience of the gathered people of God as they celebrate the Eucharist baptism.
