The Risks of Deferred Consent in Trials

There are of course important ethical safeguards I think around equipoise and kind of demonstrated equipoise between the techniques that are under study. But over the last 10 years we've seen the sea change I think in the way that these trials can be delivered. So this study is exemplary in achieving very high primary outcome rates for all patients who are enrolled. We need to ensure that the mechanisms that we put in place to conduct research do exactly that.
