The Impact of Industrialisation on the British Working Class
The UK was not a democracy. The middle classes were revolutionary in their ways, but had no sympathy for the lower down strata of society. In fact, they may have been harsher towards the working people both because of their ideological sort of hang ups and also because they wanted cheap labour. South Korea came into industrialization at a time when it could import technologies that were semi-automated, but also increased worker productivity. And then finally, the model of economic development also involved a lot of public infrastructure building.
