The Lochner Era in Legal History

The years 1897 to roughly 1930 are known as the Lochner era in legal history. The courts use substantive due process to protect businesses from state regulation. During this period, several federal and state statutes that sought to limit working conditions were invalidated. FDR essentially said, look, if huge abonies don't start passing my legislation, I'm going to just like make the court like 26 people that I all, you know, that I appointed them all.
