The Story of Wilbur Wright

The Wright brothers made their first sustained flight in North Carolina on December 17, 1903. Wilbur decided to give an exhibition during the Hudson Fulton 300th anniversary celebration held in New York City over September and October of 1909. When he saw the dome of Grant's tomb at 122nd Street in Riverside Drive, he turned around and flew back to Governor's Island, landing after a 33-minute flight. One can only imagine the awe that would fill a five-year-old boy and forever imprint upon his memory. And then, 65 years later, be transfixed, watching the first human beings step down onto the moon.
