Before the Ukraine war, we have a significant inflationary rise which is largely down to energy prices. Duncan also before the war in Ukraine was inflation going up in other comparable countries? Yes. The broad picture is from the banking crisis of 2000 and there, 2009 onwards. Every advanced economy then had about a decade of really low inflation. That all changes during the pandemic. You get what we learned is turning modern economies on and off isn't just like flipping a switch.
