Bosnia and Herzegovina - Elections in 1991
All of the republics decided to hold elections, with slovinia and coatia hoping to use them as stepping stones to independence. Elections were held in april 19 90, and nationalist politicians won most of them. Soon afterwards, yugoslava's national armed forces issued a statement promising to protect serb minorities in the individual republics. The us government was concerned about allegations of human rights abuses in colsevo. In august 19 90, senator bob dol of kansas visited cosevo to investigate these allegations.
