For tabletop games, the Kickstarter platform is for taking pre orders period. A project from a first time creator will directly compete with these well capitalized and in some cases publicly traded companies. Backers are now extremely well educated and spoiled for choice. If they don't like a campaign, they can easily pull their support and transfer it to the campaign next door. It's not a level playing field in the slightest.
