The Importance of Iqua in Adoption Proceedings

iqua was established by congress back in the seventies. Built into iqua is also a series of procedure rules that establish a preference for native american children staying with native american families. Before iqua was enacted, it was found that anywhere from 25 to 35 % of all indian children were being forcibly removed from their families and placed in predominantly non native american homes.
