The European resuscitation council guidance on intubation talks about the risk of a misplaced tube in out of hospital cardiac arrest being somewhere between 0.5 and 17%. The ERC expert consensus statement says that only systems that can achieve a high tracheal intubation success rate should use it defining this as 95% success rate within two attempts. In 2021 RKM curriculum now states that by completion of higher specialist training the trainee will be able to provide airway management and ventilatory support to critically or patients including RSI. By the end of training they're able to lead the team or perform any role within it, Rob writes.
