The last significant writer strike lasted about 100 days in 2007. The main point of contention was DVD residuals and we're seeing the same sort of thing now. A number of writers feel so good at their conditions. They weren't necessarily as good as they were 10 years ago. And the rise of streaming has really affected them in that regard.
