Ibn Batuta traveled from the Indus River to the valley of the Upper Ganges River. With him were 40 companions, including friends, servants, and slaves. For safety Ibn Batuta and his retinue traveled with a larger group. He recounts being attacked by more than 80 Hindu bandits on the road.
