The Origins of Data Protection Laws

Data protection laws are derived from and emerged from the body of international human rights law. Privacy was this broad fundamental right that had to do with physical boundedness of a person. But when computers came on the scene, they penetrated these sort of physical boundaries. That is the very start of what now 50 years later has manifested into a very different notion of privacy.
