The Importance of Non-Consensual Sex in the Book
I don't think it would be impossible. It might not even be particularly hard to have the emotional arc be the same without having there be non-consensual sex in it. I guess I get why you want to have the symmetry of Daphne feeling betrayed by him saying can't what he means won't and then Simon feeling betrayed when she does this. But I think, I think the second one is worse.
