The History of the Mongol Yend Dynasty in Cambodia
Jayavarman VII, the first Buddhist king of Cambodia, declared Buddhism as the official state religion. He originally followed the Mahayana sect of Buddhism but little by little the Hindu look and feel of the empire was slowly transformed into a more Buddhist appearance. Zhou Daguan left us what is considered to be the definitive account of daily life in the Khmer Empire in the late 13th century. There were no records of any Chinese settlements or significant presence until the 13th Century.
